Basicity (B2 / B4)
Index describing the basic character of the slag. B2 is the CaO/SiO₂ ratio; B4 is (CaO+MgO)/(SiO₂+Al₂O₃). Controlling basicity is essential for refining (removing S and P) and for slag stability.
